Warm Up:
When the students of St.Edwards came in first they did a warm up with us.
The warm up was led by the warm up group. They did a dance with the children and they chose the "Gangnam Style" dance which you can find here:
We all joined in behind the warm up group and everybody did the dance. I thought this was good as it was clearly visible that some of the students had some inhibitions about dancing but when they saw everybody doing the dance and nobody just standing watching they felt a lot more comfortable to take part.
After the dance was completed and the students were warmed up they were split up into groups of 5/6 and allocated to each station.
In our group was:
Michael Moran
Micheal McWeeney
Kieran Goldrick
Oisin Mac Fhionnlaoich
We were teaching the front and back roll today. Micheal took the first group for teaching with our assistance, followed by Kieran, Followed by Michael followed by Oisin.
We all taught the children the same thing which was technique for the front and back roll, when the students came around for the second time we had set up an apparatus where the students could put what they had learned into action. We used the following pieces of equipment illustrated below:

Feedback offered in this class:
Today in class we found that most of the students were well capable to perform the front and back roll. Some of the students had prior experience of the rolls and were performing it in an unsafe way that put them in danger of hurting there neck or head so we had to step in and correct their technique telling them "Thats very good you've done this before, try putting your hands behind your head on the back roll and pointing your elbows towards the ceiling and see how you find that"... After this instructional piece of positive feedback the students found it easier to roll backwards than before.
One boy in the class did karate and was doing a few dangerous moves that if another student copied and did wrong they could seriously hurt themselves so we had to ensure that he stuck to the plan and carried out the technique of the front and back roll like everyone else.
We thought that when we had the apparatus set up the students were brilliant at finding more and more creative ways to travel through the ring especially when they did front or back rolls through it we couldn't get over how well they could tuck themselves up to roll through so we let them know how well they were doing by clapping and giving support.
Teaching as a group/Our Individual Performances:
Michael Moran
"I was happy with todays class in the way that we as a group worked together teaching the children. At all times there was one person of the group the teacher while the other members of the group offered feedback to the students and helped the teacher out if necessary...
The group performed well and stuck to the lesson plan. I personally am happy with my performance as i stuck to the plan and had the class performing the rolls just the way I had hoped, I enjoyed the experience of teaching gymnastics and working with the lads and i hope to do so again..."
Micheal McWeeney
"Todays class went very well, we had worked on a lesson plan and we stuck to it from start to finish, I enjoyed working with my group and we worked well together. When i was teaching the others gave support to the children and kept them on task. I am happy with my performance as i feel as if I got on well with the children and my other group members..."
Kieran Goldrick
"We did very well today as a group, we got together previously in the week and drew up our lesson plan and we stuck to that plan perfectly, everybody knew their job and what they were expected to do at all times. Personally i am more than happy with my performance as teacher today and i look forward to doing it again. I enjoyed working with my group today and found it easy to communicate with other group members..."
Oisin Mac Fionnlaoich
"Today went well for me, I enjoyed teaching gymnastics to the children and enjoyed working with Michael, Micheal and Kieran, we worked well together and everyone shared an equal responsibility in the group so that no one person was carrying the rest. I feel like i did well as teacher and i got on well with the children today, one of the children actually remembered me from teaching experience previously..."
